Below are our standard directions for the majority of our visitors travelling from "the east":
It is advisable to avoid Exeter as this will add about 45 minutes to your journey, so if you are travelling via the A303 we would suggest that you take the A358 which will take you onto the M5, near Tiverton.
At junction 27 of the M5 motorway pick up the A361 towards TIVERTON.
At the FIRST ROUNDABOUT turn left, go straight over the roundabout in the housing development, and pass the East Devon College on your right.
At the next mini-roundabout turn right, continue past the large Morrisons supermarket (last chance for provisions/petrol!) and new Hospital, and then turn right at the next mini-roundabout. In about 200 metres turn sharp left onto the B3137 (signposted for WITHERIDGE)
Travel for almost 6 miles; pass through a wood and soon after the brow of the hill fork left into a lane marked PUDDINGTON and BLACK DOG.
Through the small villages of PUDDINGTON and BLACK DOG; and carry on towards MORCHARD BISHOP.
Now – this is where most people go astray – please DO NOT GO INTO THE VILLAGE OF MORCHARD BISHOP!
After passing the wood on your right you arrive at a fork. (On the upright of the signpost is written “Barton Cross”). Fork left and travel 1.5 miles and then take the track on your left marked “West Aish”. Please stop at the gate marked ‘Reception’.
